According to the official statement from the ministry, parents of schoolchildren will not be charged additional fees for the use of textbooks and workbooks in 2025.
“The funds allocated in the state budget for 2025 will fully cover the need to provide students with textbooks and workbooks in the new school year,” said the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
As reported by the ministry, 1.5 trillion sums have been allocated from the state budget in 2024 for the supply of 83.2 million copies of textbooks and workbooks for schoolchildren. Of this amount, 435.5 billion sums, or 36%, were directed towards workbooks, which are intended for annual use and therefore are reissued every year.
It is expected that in 2025, funding for 81 million copies of textbooks and workbooks will be provided through budgetary resources amounting to 1.3 trillion sums.
The ministry noted that in the draft of the state budget, developed based on the budget strategy for 2025-2027, corresponding proposals were previously presented to implement a rental fee system for sets of textbooks and workbooks for students in grades 2-11 starting from the 2025/2026 academic year. However, due to the stated capacity to fully meet the needs of schoolchildren for textbooks and workbooks in the new academic year using budget funds, the rental fee will not be charged.
