Two Uzbek Companies Sanctioned by the U.S.

The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) under the U.S. Department of the Treasury has imposed sanctions on 275 individuals and organizations, including two Uzbek companies, Uzstanex and The Elite Investment Group, which are allegedly connected to the Russian defense sector.

According to data from the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, Uzstanex was registered in 2018 and specializes in trading mechanical equipment. It has a charter capital of 65 million sums, with Vasiliy Abramov as the sole founder. The company is located in the Yashnabad district of Tashkent.

The Elite Investment Group was established in January 2024 for wholesale non-specialized trade. The company is situated in the Yangiyul district of Tashkent Region. Nodira Kazakbaeva serves as the founder and director, with a charter capital of 3 million sums.

According to the U.S. Department of State, The Elite Investment Group supplied Russian companies, including the U.S.-registered and Russia-based "GTS Group," with products from the Common High-Priority List (CHPL) valued at about $190,000 from March to May 2024. The shipments included electrical transformers, with the Turkish company Guclu Global acting as the freight agent.

Additionally, a total of 20 Russians have been added to the updated sanctions list. This list also includes two citizens of China, four citizens of Turkey, two citizens of India, two citizens of Switzerland, a citizen of Greece, and a citizen of Chile.

“The United States and our allies will continue to take decisive action around the world to stop the flow of critical tools and technologies that Russia uses to conduct its illegal and immoral war against Ukraine,” stated U.S. Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo.
