Tashkent's "Pakhtakor" is now led by a coach from Portugal.

Uzbekistan, Tashkent – According to AN Podrobno.uz, the head coach of the capital's football club "Pahktakor" is now the Portuguese Pedro Moreira. Previously, he has worked with well-known teams such as "Roma," "Shakhtar," "Porto," and "Braga," reports a correspondent from Podrobno.uz.

Pedro Moreira was born in Mozambique and is 49 years old. He holds Portuguese citizenship. He has served as an assistant coach in the aforementioned clubs and has also been the head coach of other teams in Portugal, Spain, and South America.

Football analysts note that Moreira's tactical knowledge and ability to change strategies could elevate "Pakhtakor" to a new level.

Assisting him in coaching the team will be José Borges, Marco Lechi, Ricardo Uason, and Miguel Soares. The previous head coach, Maxim Shatskikh, will remain with the club as a consultant.

"I thank the previous coach. I understand that this season has been challenging. I will strive to introduce new styles and ideas to the team," Moreira said at a press conference in Tashkent.

"Pakhtakor" has been crowned champion of Uzbekistan 15 times and has won the national cup 12 times. Additionally, it made history as the first Uzbek team to reach the semifinals of the AFC Champions League. In the current season of the Uzbekistan Super League, "Pakhtakor" finished in sixth place with 38 points. This year's tournament was sensationally won by "Nasaf."
