Uzbekistan, Tashkent – According to AN Podrobno.uz, a weightlifter from Uzbekistan has set a new world record in the clean and jerk for men in the under 109-kilogram weight class at the World Championship held in Bahrain, as reported by a correspondent from Podrobno.uz.

The National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan noted that Nuriddinov "capped off brilliantly" the performances of our compatriots who concluded their participation in the World Championship.

Despite finishing fifth in the snatch with a result of 182 kilograms, he managed to outpace his competitors in the clean and jerk, lifting 242 kilograms.

With a total result of 424 kilograms, Nuriddinov emerged as the champion and also broke his own world record in the clean and jerk, set in April 2021.

As highlighted by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), the 33-year-old Ruslan Nuriddinov made the audience rise to their feet, becoming one of the oldest weightlifters to ever break a world record.

He has won the World Championship three times and also secured gold at the Olympic Games in 2016.

Another Uzbek athlete, Sharofiddin Amriddinov, who won a gold medal in the snatch, finished sixth in the clean and jerk with a result of 212 kilograms and fifth overall in the combined total. Thus, gold medals in all disciplines were claimed by representatives of the Uzbekistan team.

In the end, the Uzbekistan team concluded this world championship with 3 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals.
