Ulugbek Rashitov has become the first Uzbek to be recognized as the world's best taekwondo athlete.

Uzbekistan, Tashkent – According to AN Podrobno.uz, two-time Olympic champion Ulugbek Rashitov from Uzbekistan has been awarded the title of the world's best taekwondo athlete this year.

According to the press service of the National Olympic Committee, he was selected through a global voting process. The athlete has become the first Uzbek to receive such an honor.

During the World Poomsae Championships taking place in Hong Kong, Rashitov was awarded a prize by the World Taekwondo Federation.

Let us remind you that Rashitov earned his Olympic medals at the Tokyo games in 2021 and Paris in 2024. To date, he is the only Uzbek taekwondo athlete to have two Olympic golds in his career.
